Burnside patriotic lettersheet datelined " Fort Snelling Oct 28th/62 " from a soldier waiting to move reading in part " …we will start tomorrow…There must be some fifty teams in all going up with this train… The Indian have stopped the mail from Fort Abercrombie to St. Cloud, so you need not be surprised or think strange if you do not get letters from there but we will clean them out when we go up if they don't cut sticks before we get there… when you write … direct to Fort Abercrombie 8th Reg… "; cover reduced slightly at right, Very Fine and attractive patriotic soldier use.

    The other recorded Civil War patriotic design to Cuba is also a blue design, of Benjamin Franklin, on a slender envelope from the same correspondence that realized $4,720 in 2022 (Siegel 2272 lot 3351).
