Mar 5, 1862." cds with matching "Due 5" rating handstamp to Capt. F.P. Miller, company K 21st NC Regiment, Manassas; creases and wear, reduced at left, Fine and scarce.

The endorsement is that of Charles Bell Gibson PACS (1816-1865) who was the Surgeon-in-Charge of General Hospital (military hospital) No. 1 in Richmond. He also had the additional duty of examining sick or wounded soldiers to determine fitness for duty and disposition such as return to duty, discharge, furlough, etc.
