    Official Seal - Sea Post, 1895, black, with blue crayon "12" number, used to seal flap over edge of 1¢ Franklin registered entire bearing 8¢ Violet Brown, 4¢ Orange Brown, 5¢ Blue (272, 280, 281) tied by "Cleveland, Ohio" ovals to Germany, purple "Cleveland, Ohio, Reg. Div. Aug 25, 1899" double-circle datestamp, endorsed "Samples, No Value" at bottom left, reverse with "New York (8.28) oval, "U.S. German Sea Post, Aug, 99" cds and Magdeburg arrival backstamp, Very Fine, ex-Lake Shore, Bailar .

    THE FINEST OF ONLY THREE RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THE NEW YORK-BREMEN SEA POST SEAL USED ON COVER.

    Sea Post Offices operated on board transoceanic steamers and processed mail posted on board or picked up at ports along the voyage. The need for official seals was very limited.

    Official Seal - Typeset, black, "Offically", tied by "Unclaimed, Return to Writer" hand handstamp sealing right edge of cover bearing 2¢ shield (319) tied by "Kansas City Mo., Jan 8, 1905" cds to Caldwell Kans., returned with "Caldwell Kans. Feb 20, 1905" duplex and Salisbury Mo. (2.21) arrival backstamp; small top edge tear, seal split upon opening, Fine appearance.

    Official Seal - Typeset, black, Position 1 from the vertical pane of 3 with s.e. at sides and top, signed, with part of "Gardner, Sep 26" flag machine cancel and blue crayon over ms. street name at bottom, heavy crease as usual for a used seal, Very Fine appearance and exceptionally rare, the only recorded used example of the "Form D" seal, illustrated in Kotanchik (p. 200) , ex-Richardson .
