    1850s-1860s Parker Pre-War and Civil War Correspondence and Related, group of over 160 covers including mail from Lt. Parker during the Civil War back home to his wife, several envelopes with pre-printed address, mostly 3¢ #11, 26 and 65 frankings, a number posted from Old Point Comfort Va. with fancy cork cancels, other Civil War towns include New Berne N.C., Norfolk Va., Port Royal S.C., Key West Fla., etc., note a couple Richmond Va. gun advertising on flap covers; some mixed condition, F.-V.F.

  • Lot 588

    1862-64 Civil War correspondence to Lt. Commander Parker on Blockading Squadron Ships, group of 23 covers from Newark N.J. with #65 single or double frankings to Lt. Commander James Parker on the U.S.S. Minnesota , Seneca , Maumee , Galena and stained R.R. Cuylee , via Hampton Roads Va., Port Royal S.C., Fortress Monroe, City Point Va., etc., one addressed to him in the blockading squadron without ship designation, and last is an 1864 #65 use docketed from the USS Seneca back home with preprinted address; some faults including later with 3¢ faulty, F.-V.F. group.

    Civil War Postal History including Patriotics, group of over 30 covers mostly bearing #65 singles, a couple soldier letters sent postage due, some content letters, and a print of Camp Alexander, note some better patriotic designs including a Wells "Loyal to the Union" all-over design with a New York Due 3 marking, two Maj. Gen. McClellan designs, an interesting cover front with an unlisted design of the "Tomb of Washington.", "Jeff Davis' Doom,", a couple of regimental designs (13th MA & 14th NH), great two-color designs including examples of "Flag of the Free" and a number of soldier's items, a number of interesting postmarks including a type II "G.B.D" handstamp, a number of Maryland and Washington DC postal markings, lots of great letter content, some usual mixed condition, F.-V.F.

    Unused Patriotic Cover Collection, better collection of over 105 envelopes including many better like 7 all-over Magnus designs incl. "Naval Expedition" and "Siegel and Capture of Fort Donelson", group of Loyal States, some Berlin imprints, caricatures, etc plus one Confederate; few flaws but overall good quality, Very Fine group.

    WWII British Solomon Islands Campaign in the Pacific, USMC collection of 75+ censored covers of the British Solomon Island Campaign in the Western Pacific, each cover mounted and described in depth with type and handwritten notes detailing censor type, cancellation markings and historical details about the military unit of assignment. Items sent from the Banika Island, Guadalcanal Island, New Caledonia. and others with a great selection of APO's. Does not appear to be much duplication of senders or locations. Many pages annotated with the different units/batteries. Covers seeme to about evenly franked using 6¢ orange Air Post Stamped Envelopes and 6¢ Transports. A must for a Marine Corp enthusiast or anyone focused on WWII censorship material.
