    New York City Advertised Covers, 1876-1908, grouping of 27 covers with a variety of marks to include "ADVERTISED" and "CANNOT BE FOUND." Four covers w/ great strikes also have 1¢ postage due stamps affixed to the front. Others have on the front "Advertised" using a variety of oval markings. An item has a purple oval "UNCLAIMED 1.0. N.Y." w/ another oval "C.I." in a blue with "Letter Returned by Carrier" yellow adhesive tied with triangular "DEAD LETTER OFFICE" other examples of rectangular message strikes on the back and one w/ a pointing hand, another with an Official Seal" along with notation "Opened by mistake" in pencil on back. An interesting grouping with excellent variety in markings, colors of strikes, and message imprints. A couple items still have contents. Inspection will discover great markings and condition is good although some back flaps missing., F.-V.F. group.
