    Campbell's Stage Line, U.S. Mail & Express, Traverse City Mich., pristine illustrated corner card featuring two-team Stagecoach with caption "From Traverse City to Railroad" bearing 3¢ green (147) tied by cork cancel duplexed with "Traverse City Mich., Jun 23" cds to Frankfort Mich., pencil "Mailed June 21 - 1871" docketing; reduced slightly at right, Very Fine and rare.

    Robert A. Campbell, proprietor of "Campbell's Stage Line" of Traverse City, was born in Franklin County, N.Y., Jan. 18, 1840. In 1859 he came to Traverse City, Mich. where he was for some time in the employ of Hannah, Lay & Co., and then spent some time in farm work. He later spent three years as baker and confectioner before starting the stage business on the Big Rapids, Cadillac, Fife Lake, Elk Rapids, Northport, Glen Arbor and Frankfort lines. The April 1886 Traverse News noted R. A. Campbell had sold his Traverse City and Frankfort stage route to W. M. Gates of Frankfort, who takes it on Friday of this week.

Stellwagen & Kraetzer, Buffalo N.Y. corner card cover to St. Avold, France , endorsed "By French Mail" at top, "Buffalo N.Y., Mar 31, 1860" cds and matching "15" oval rating handstamp, "New York '3' Apr 3" debit exchange cds, French (4.16.60) entry cds and "8" decimes due handstamp, reverse with Paris (4.17) transit and St. Avold arrival cds; bit of abrasion at top, Very Fine.
